Commissioning and system measurements of the charging station in Annaberg-Buchholz

After setting up the charging station in June 2023, extensive measurements were taken on the charging station in interaction with the accumulator-powered traction unit of type Coradia previously tested in Salzgitter at the station Annaberg-Buchholz Süd in August and September 2023 as part of the joint development project of Rail Power Systems (RPS), F&S Prozessautomation, DB Energie, DB Erzgebirgsbahn, the Technical University of Dresden, Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC) and Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS). In essence, the measurements already conducted in Salzgitter were repeated, so that now the results for two locations with different supply networks are available. The tests were successful and the vehicle and charging substation interact as intended. The connection conditions for the supply network in accordance with VDE AR-N 4110 are fulfilled.

The charging station and traction unit were introduced to the public during the Digital Rail Convention in September 2023.
